Apple Accessibility
Apple computers have accessibility features to accommodate several different types of disabilities. The OSX operating system offers solutions for hearing, low vision and motor skill issues.
Low Vision
Apple handles low vision issues with both zoom features and a voice over system that vocalizes any text that is scrolled over.
Hearing
Most computers use a series of beeps, buzzers and jingles to signify certain events. Apple allows you to disable these events and receive visual cues instead. This is a big benefit to users with hearing problems.
Motor Skills
Many seniors have impaired motor skills that can make operating a mouse difficult. Apple has several options that allow the keyboard to by used to navigate. Users can set the number pad to be used as a way of moving the mouse cursor around on a web site. Users can also use keyboard shortcuts that can be set up to move to certain parts of a page based on certain combinations of keystrokes.
