Inspiration for TouchBrite

I started TouchBrite after watching my grandmother gradually lose her independence due to macular degeneration, a medical condition that causes the gradual loss of eyesight. After her eyesight deteriorated she soon lost the ability to drive, and then needed to move to an independent living facility. She is still quick witted, but her vision is now very poor and this has made normal tasks much more difficult.

With the inability to drive and residence at an independent living facility she also needed to find additional ways to entertain herself. Activities such as television, music and games become much more important without the ability to drive. As many seniors know, the problem is that many of these devices are not made with seniors in mind. Many senior citizens can also benefit from using a computer. Like other electronics, computers are also often made in a way that frustrates many seniors.

At TouchBrite, our goal is to unlock the benefits offered by computers and electronics for seniors and help put them in touch with technology.
